The Early Days
Picture this: it's the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, and here I am, knee-deep in accounting textbooks, juggling my role as a bar manager. I was feeling like I was barely keeping afloat in an ocean of career uncertainty. Accounting? It just didn't quite click with who I am at my core. I loved the business aspect, but something was missing.
The Pivotal Moment
Then came a pivotal moment: stumbling upon a Professor Messer video about Security+. A spark was ignited, and what started as idle curiosity rapidly evolved into an all-consuming passion. Suddenly, everything shifted. It was like discovering the final piece of a puzzle I hadn't even realized I was solving.
A Wild Ride
Fast forward nearly five years, and what a wild ride it's been! Along the way, I've worn many hats:
- Help desk support and system administrator at a staffing company
- Network administrator in the fast-paced world of management consulting
- Building out an entire security program at an investment management firm
These roles weren't just jobs; they were crash courses in real-world IT and cybersecurity. They surrounded me with incredible teams and blessed me with fantastic mentors.
